Degree Requirements

Degree Requirements (also available in pdf format) can be found in your catalog. Here are the requirements at a glance:

  • 120 credit hours earned
  • Must have a declared major
  • 42 senior college hours (200 level or above)
  • General Education requirements must be met by one of the following ways:
    • Illinois State’s General Education Program
    • Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) for transfer students
    • Baccalaureate-oriented Associates degree (A.A. or A.S.)
  • Global Studies course
  • GPA – 2.0 or higher (some programs require a higher GPA)
  • B.A/B.S. Requirements
    • B.A.  – Completion of a foreign language at the LAN 115 level
    • B.S. – Extra Science, Math or Technology course beyond the General Education requirement
  • College of Arts and Sciences foreign language requirement
  • No Incompletes
  • Residence requirement – unless otherwise specified in a program – 30 of the last 60 hours must be earned at Illinois State University

  • B.S. - Bachelor of Science
  • B.S. in Ed. - Bachelor of Science in Education
  • B.S.N. - Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • B.ME. - Bachelor of Music Education
  • B.S.W. - Bachelor of Social Work
