Undeclared Advising

"I'm undeclared. Is that okay?" ..... YES

As an undeclared student you can explore your options, work with your advisor, and find out what majors would be a good fit for you. It can take time to find the right fit, don't rush the process. You may not have all the answers right now, and that's okay. Just ask Logan.

Explore Majors

  • Be proactive about choosing your major.
    • Explore all of the majors at Illinois State University
    • Eliminate majors you'd never pursue and research majors that interest you most.
  • Find out what you can do with your major. The Career Center at Illinois State has more resources available to you as you explore.

Undeclared vs. Undecided

Students who have not officially been admitted to a major at ISU are considered undeclared. All undeclared students are assigned to academic advisors in University College. You will transitioned to your department or school for academic advisement after you are admitted to your intended major.

We understand that there is a difference between being an undecided student (truly not knowing which major to pursue) and being undeclared (having a major in mind but not officially admitted to it).

We Can Help You!
