Students looking to take the Illnois State University COMPASS Math Placement exam at a location that is NOT Illinois State University, will need to first register for the exam with the Illinois State University Testing Office before arriving to their preferred remote test location. The registration number received via email will ensure that you are taking the correct version of the exam needed for Illinois State University.
To complete remote COMPASS testing you must do the following:

2. Once registered, an email from COMPASS@act.org is automatically sent to your provided email address with specific information needed for testing at the testing location. It will provide contact information for making appointments at the site and a registration number that you MUST take with you to the test location. A proctor fee (typically $20 - $50) will be charged at time of testing and the confirmation email will include fee amount and acceptable forms of payment.
THIS REGISTRATION NUMBER IS VALID FOR 45 DAYS FROM DATE OF REGISTRATION. IF YOU MISS THE DEADLINE, PLEASE CONTACT US AGAIN FOR A NEW REGISTRATION NUMBER BEFORE ARRIVING TO YOUR PREFERRED TESTING LOCATION.
3. Please inform the remote testing center staff that you are an Illinois State University student and provide your registration number and fee in order to complete the correct exam. Photo identification is required at all test locations.
