Writing Assistance

From papers to emails, we can teach you how to be a good writer in all kinds of situations. You’ll work one-on-one with a writing expert to become a better writer.

To get writing help, you can make an appointment, stop by during our drop-in hours, or submit your writing to us online. The Visor Center writing help is available for any ISU undergraduate students. Graduate students see below for Graduate Writing Assistance.

Make an Appointment

Drop-In

No appointment necessary.

Drop-in appointments are 30 minutes and are available on a first come, first served basis.

Mondays: 2-7 p.m.

Tuesdays: 5-7 p.m.

Wednesdays: 2-5 p.m.

Thursdays: 11 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4–8 p.m. 

Online Submission

With asynchronous writing assistance, you can submit your writing online and get feedback from a writing tutor.

  • Feedback takes 3 to 5 business days.

  • Tutors do not edit your paper. They leave comments and suggestions about recommended changes.

  • If you want to discuss your work, schedule a writing assistance appointment.
