The Julia N. Visor Academic Center provides one-on-one writing assistance for any course or need. By focusing on the writing process instead of merely on grammar and editing, we are committed to making you a better writer.
We offer three different options for undergraduate writing assistance: appointments, drop-in, and asynchronous (online paper submissions).
Need help right now? Check out the Writing section of University College's 24/7 Resources.
There are three ways to schedule a writing assistance appointment:
For undergraduate students in need of drop-in writing assistance—no appointment necessary. Drop-in sessions can last for up to 30 minutes and are on a first-come first-served basis. If you would like more time with a tutor then we encourage you to sign up for a 50-minute writing assistance appointment.
Drop-In Writing Assistance is located in the Visor Center.
Asynchronous writing assistance is where you can submit your paper online in order to receive feedback from a writing tutor.
To submit a paper for review, use this form.
Please note the following information for our asynchronous writing assistance:
- Feedback can take up to 3-5 business days.
- Writing tutors will not make edits directly to your paper, but instead will leave comments and suggestions about possible changes.
- If you would like to discuss your work with a writing tutor, please schedule a writing assistance appointment.
The Graduate School, in partnership with the Efaw Center for Educator Excellence and the Office of International Engagement, offers one-on-one writing assistance for graduate students.
See the Graduate School Website for more information and to schedule an appointment.
