Academic Peer Advisors
University College Academic Peer Advisors (APAs) assist students with developing academic plans and connecting them with campus resources through professional advice and personal experience.
Peer Advisors are paired with a full-time professional advisor and have the following job responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Advise first-year students with academic planning
- Assist in the delivery of University College program and services, which may include public presentations
- Acquire a general knowledge of University programs, services, policies including all applicable academic deadlines
- Assist the University College Advising office with answering phone calls, checking in students in the reception area, scheduling appointments for advising staff, and providing timely and accurate information to appropriate University offices

Dates of Employment
- August 15, 2024 – May 9, 2025
- May include University breaks
- Optional summer availability from May 20 – August 14, 2024 (Dependent on office needs for Preview 2023)
- Work 12– 15 hours a week (dependent on advisement office needs and time of year)
- Office hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
- Current undergraduate students
- Minimum GPA: 2.75
- Minimum 1-year commitment
- Available for mandatory pre-semester training August 15 and 16, 2024
- Available for mandatory weekly training throughout each semester on Thursdays from 8-8:50 a.m.

At least one reference form is required in order to be considered for the Academic Peer Advising position. Reference forms are submitted through Microsoft Forms. Reference forms must be submitted before the March 1, 2024 deadline.
