With the exception of those students participating in the Honors Program, University College academic advisors advise all students who have less than 24 credit hours earned and are two semesters removed from high school graduation. University College also advises all Undeclared students. You must be registered for the current or future term to be assigned an academic advisor and success team. These assignments are made overnight after you register. If you are a new student, you can find your orientation details here.
Academic advisors are here to help you navigate your intended academic path while at Illinois State University. We help you plan a course schedule, adjust to college life, choose a major or change your major. We also provide referrals to other resources and services on campus.
You can find your assigned academic advisor on the homepage of your My.IllinoisState.edu account. Log in with your ULID and password and find your advisor name and contact information listed on the left side of your screen. You will also see information on how to schedule an advising appointment, and a link to view your entire Success Team.
If you have an urgent academic issue or are looking to change your current major, this service is for you. No appointment is necessary and students are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis. Drop-in assistance typically lasts 10-15 minutes and will take place virtually via Zoom.
